Software Development Manager – Burlingame

This software development manager Position Features:
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- In collaboration with the database architect, act as the lead software architect to design and implement enterprise solutions
- Manages a team of internal and external third party software developers
- Writes product requirement documents, implements and tracks development timelines, manages bug tracking and application support requests.
- Negotiates feature sets with the business units and works out the product details with the development team.
- Improves business processes and supports critical business strategies by managing the development, implementation, and maintenance of business applications systems. Leads multiple projects and oversees developers to ensure that specifications are met.
- Responsible for the review of computer system capabilities, workflow and scheduling limitations to determine if requested program or program change is possible within existing system.
- Creates technical reports, memoranda and instructional manuals as documentation of program development.
- Upgrades system and corrects errors to maintain system after implementation.

REQUIRED SKILLS
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 3+ years managing a small group of internal Software Developers.
- 3 + years experience managing a third party development team (outsourced).
- Ability to play the lead technical role for projects and integration of development team projects.
- Strong Project Management experience.
- Must be able to deliver a quality product on time and on budget.
- 7+ years of development experience in Visual Basic (5/6), MS Access, MS SQL & MS.NET.
- Working knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligent rules based engines a huge plus. (Cognos, MicroStrategy, Yasu Technologies, Blaze Advisor or others).
- Exemplary coding skills.
- Experience developing/designing large software systems.
- Must have the ability to cross train other staff members and play a leading role with respect to programming efforts. (Up to 50% hands-on programming).
- Experience with EZ-CAP system or any claims management system a plus.
- 3+ years direct programming experience in an EDI environment.
- 4+ years direct experience with building complex rules based technologies for Web and database front and back-end solutions, document management, content management, and - knowledge management technologies.
- Web development in a Microsoft environment a plus.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to gather information from non-technical staff.
- Significant development experience in a Healthcare environment a plus.
